Stella first appears in Una Fata a Gardenia (translation: A Fairy in Gardenia) (USA dub: "It Feels Like Magic"). She is the catalyst for Bloom's beginning to discover her true origin. Stella was held back a grade after presumably being expelled from Alfea for causing an explosion in the potion lab.

[edit] Personality profileEdit

Stella is depicted as usually proud and self-centered, though she cares a lot about her friends. Besides that, she loves fashion and gossip, sometimes giving fashion advice to the other members of the Winx Club. She'd rather goof off, shop, or go out with boys than do her schoolwork, sometimes annoying the rest of the Winx Club. She is also the secondary character.

The most intuitive of all of the members, Stella likes to matchmake and has often had problems with understanding why her friends don't always like getting set up. Despite her intuition, Stella can be rather oblivious at times (especially when it comes to her boyfriend, Brandon). Stella and her friends also gave her the name of "Fairy Of Fashion" and as mentioned in Season 2 when she met Amore, her bonded pixie, she called herself "The Most Loved Fairy". In the beginning of season one, Stella is 16 years old.

Although she might disagree with her friends at times, Stella is very supportive and protective and will not hesitate to help them. She learns to accept that love and friendship are far more important than royalty, fashion, and shopping. Sometimes she hides her true personality because of her upbringing, but manages to uncover it in the 4th episode of season 3. Stella, surprisingly, also seems to be a good leader, as she leads the Winx whenever Bloom is absent, which proves that she isn't very irresponsible after all.

Stella's favorite hobby, of course, is shopping. Although she hates studying, her favorite subject is metamorphology. Her favorite spell is Moon Ray, one of her rare moon powers, and she loves eating chips.

She has always wanted her separated parents (King Radius and Queen Luna) to reconcile, to the point that she was angry that her father, King Radius, announced his marriage to a new woman, Countess Cassandra, mostly because her daughter Chimera had been mean to her. In the Indian version, Stella was voiced by Sneha Gaud Sharma in season 4.

[edit] RelationshipsEdit

Stella is generally on good terms with Bloom, and both are considered to be best friends. This was even mentioned in season 3 episode nine, however, there was a mistake in the Rai English version, Stella saying; "I mean, Stella's my best friend" but its assumed and most likely that she meant to say Bloom. Stella was the one who first introduced Bloom to Alfea, and also comforts Bloom whenever the latter is stuck in a seemingly hopeless situation. After some conflicts of friendship, Stella became close to Flora. She may not be as close to the other Winx Club fairies (and might even annoy Musa because of their differing personalities), but after some time, Musa also gets quite close to Stella. she annoys Tecna too. Tecna is always telling her to stop fooling around. Stella never bothers to listen. But she cares for Tecna, and Tecna cares for her. Stella showed that in season three when Tecna got her enchantix Stella truly cares for them as well and all remain good friends. She also is pretty close to Tecna but sometimes offends her by commenting on her style. She is also quite close to Layla. In other words, she is close to everyone and everyone is close to her.

Stella sometimes flirts with other boys, but she still loves Brandon wholeheartedly. Stella believes that he's the best boyfriend in the world and sometimes brags about it. At the beginning she said she wanted to be a fairy to help people and bring together estranged lovers. Her bonded pixie, as shown in the second season, is Amore, the pixie of love.

[edit] Stella and BrandonEdit

Stella and Brandon's relationship started out when he asked her to dance at the dance held at Alfea in Alfea College for Faries/Save the First Dance! and she's loved him ever since. In season 1, she felt betrayed when he turned out to be a squire named Brandon. She also felt betrayed because he lied to her the whole time. It took her a while to forgive him but she doesn't hold it against him. In season 2, he was held hostage by the Downlanders and was forced to marry Queen Amentia. Stella and her friends go to great length to save him. Thankfully, they get there just in time. In season 4, when Mitzi was attacked by one of the Winx girls' pets, Brandon rescued her. Mitzi then falls in love with him and kisses him, straining Stella and Brandon relationship. Mitzi also swears that she will have Brandon in the end. This causes Stella and Brandon to fight a lot, but they manage to make up after a few episodes. Brandon also proposes to her in this season and she happily accepts.

[edit] Magical abilitiesEdit

In her role as the fairy of the sun, the moon, and the stars, Stella wields the ultimate ability to manipulate the fierce power of the sun, the mystic force of the moon, and the astral energy of the stars. Throughout the animated series, Stella often uses her powers over the sun, whereas her talents of the moon and stars shows limited appearances. Typically small and effective, it could cause large flame that goes out of control and consume anything in its path if she misuses her powers. Of all the members of the Winx club, Stella is probably the second strongest fairy. Stella, a beautiful young fairy of royal nobility, was born and raised in the majestic kingdom called Solaria. Here, her father king Radius rules this kingdom and that would make her a royal princess. Her mother was the beautiful and gracious queen named Luna. Both of her parents were divorced, and now she resides with her father most of the time. Her parents wanted her to become an excellent fairy, so they had Stella enrolled to Alfea, a school for fairies, where she will learned the arts of magic and spells. However, Stella shows little interest in school and was often seen shopping at the mall, trying out new finery. Because her father governs over the sun while her mother dictates the moon, Stella inherited both of her parents’ powers and allows her to wield both elements, more specifically, the sun and the moon. Even though she channels both heavenly objects, Stella often draws energy from the sun and was never shown to use the power of the moon. However, there were a number of times when she exerts her ability to summon magic spells that relate to the moon, such as Moon Ray, Lunar Magnetism and Enchantix Moon Shield.

Stella demonstrates the power to produce a golden light, so bright and radiant, emits from either her body or her scepter that it pierces through the darkness and filled every corner of the room with sunlight. A fairy of flight, Stella can fly through the sky or float in midair, with or without wings. Fond of fashion and beauty, Stella can change all sorts of outfits out of her own whim and used every cosmetic she knew to make herself look more attractive. She was seen to mentally creates a powerful solar force field, often in the shape of a star, and it protects her and the people whom she cared about from any lethal attacks or unfriendly spells. Gifted with telekinesis, Stella was able to channel her powers to levitate and move objects. The most impressive prodigy about Stella is that she is immune to the dangers of the sun and does not suffer from sunburn or eye damage. Stella’s primary weakness is that she must periodically recharge her superpowers through the exposure of the sun’s rays. It is shown in the animated series that if she lingers underground or in other dark places without direct sunlight for an extended period of time, her powers rapidly drained and becomes weak and pale. Stella realizes that she must always stay in contact with the sun and the moon, for they are the source of all her powers and enables her to perform magnificent feats. In order for her to recharge her solar and lunar powers, Stella needs to appear before the presence of the sun and the moon, so that she could easily absorb energy from the sun and its searing heat and the moon and its soothing beams. While basking under the sun and the moon, Stella becomes energized and it gives her more of an energy boost. When charge completely, Stella rises to her feet, flexes her physique, and then displays golden aura which surrounds and emits from her body. Fueled by the fiery energy of the sun and the magical might of the moon, this proves that she obtains enough solar/lunar power to defend herself and uses it to defeat her opponents. In season two, Stella earned her Charmix when she went to apologize Layla for her rude behavior. Equipped with Charmix, she was given additional powers that will help her defeat stronger opponents.

Stella possesses a magic item known as the ring of Solaria. Because it was originally created from starlight, the most pure source of magic in the universe, it is believed the ring holds immense magical powers. But what’s really interesting about this ring is that, some say, it gives out the same light and energy as the great dragon. She was given the ring of Solaria by her father and often channels her magic through the power of the ring, because she was strongly connected to the sun. In times of urgent needs, she removes the gold ring from her finger and tosses it into the air. The moment it reaches its height, she shouts a special phrase, commonly known as “Sun Power!” Immediately, the ring magically transforms into an elaborate scepter, and then, when she’s not using it, the ring reverts back to its original form. Stella stated in season one that she was unable to perform magic without the aid of the Solaria ring. All of Stella’s attacks require the use of the scepter. However, as her power upgrades, she no longer need the aid of the Solaria ring. The scepter appears as a long, slender staff surmounted with a round, flat disc, often shape like the symbol of the sun. Stella uses her scepter for a number of purposes. One scene shows Stella pointing her scepter at a tower covered in ice and projects a beam of sunlight at it. This helps her melt the ice from being frozen. Another scene displays Stella raises her scepter above her head and spins at a tremendous speed. When she strikes it on the ground, it creates a spherical solar energy around her and grows exponentially until it obliterates everything in its path. Similar to how she strikes the ground with her scepter, one scene shows Stella using her scepter to slam the floor and, instantly, an upwards blast of light surrounds her, which knocks anyone who approaches her. More surprisingly, Stella was able to use her scepter to create a portal that enables her and her friends to teleport other places. Also, she creates a stream or a ribbon of sunlight to strike her opponents. Other times, she swings her scepter once to fling a sphere of fiery golden sunlight directly at her target.
